Are you truly listening?
By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.
No one can understand your pain or comfort, your sorrow
They'll never understand your struggle
Preconceived misconceptions of stereotypes thrust upon you
Holier than though antagonist that constantly judge you
Forgetting that only God can judge me or you, or anyone
Your money, your ego, your pride and your selfishness will die in the grave you yourself dug
Try to love and understand, not judge and pretend
Cause the struggle someone is painted with can't be truly explained plainly
They will fall to temptation, pray for a better day and do everything they can to feel
But until the world can turn their ear to you, they'll never truly understand your pain
So loose lips sink ships and closed mouths don’t get fed
Contradicting the very art form of listening, now they are just assuming
